Chicago activists preview World Fair Trade Day 2015

The point of Fair Trade is to encourage people to make ethical purchases. Cook County Commissioner John Fritchey has proposed a sweatshop free ordinance. The measure would make sure that the county purchases goods and clothing free of sweatshop labor. Chicago has passed a similar ordinance with the encouragement of Chicago Fair Trade. We’ll talk to Chicago Fair Trade director Katherine Bissell Cordova about advances in ethical purchasing. Chicago celebrates World Fair Trade Day on May 6th and 7th with a festival at Daley Plaza. Worldview broadcasts live from Daley Plaza May 6th at noon.
