Climate Activist Greta Thunberg Calls For Systemic Action

Sixteen-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg has announced that she plans on travelling to the United States via a zero-emissions racing boat to speak at United Nations climate summits and attend environmental protests in mid-August. She spoke last Tuesday in front of the lower house of France’s Parliament on the need for systemic action to address the global climate crisis, saying, “They said that we children, we exaggerate, that we are alarmists. To respond to that I invite you to read the last [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] report. You will find all of our 'opinions' there." She described politicians, the leadership of multinational corporations and journalists as collectively responsible for under-acting and under-reporting on the threats that the climate crisis poses.
