The World Health organization says climate change is the biggest public health threat of the 21st century. Climate change has been linked to all kinds of public health problems, everything from an increase in waterborne diseases due to warmer waters and more flooding to a rise in the number of cases of asthma. Illinois has its own set of public health challenges- with things like allergies on the rise. We’ll take a look at the relationship between climate change and health with Dr. Sarah Lovinger, executive director of Chicago Physicians for Social Responsibility, Brian Urbaszewski, director of Environmental Health Program for Respiratory Health Association and Dr. Peter Orris, director of the Occupational Health Service Institute at the University of Illinois School of Public Health.
