Colombian peace talks get attention of soccer legend Carlos Valderamma
Last week the Colombian rebel group FARC announced it would begin a 30 day ceasefire on December 15th. FARC and the Colombian government have been in peace talks since 2012 and have agreed on land reform issues, but have not completed a deal which would end a war that has lasted 50 years. Now, one of Colombia’s greatest soccer legends has agreed to play a match for peace with leaders of the FARC. We take stock of the state of the peace talks with Adam Isacson, a Senior Associate for Regional Security Policy at the Washington Office on Latin America.
