The U.S. Congress is set to begin debate on a resolution on Syria on Monday afternoon. The latest polls suggest that the majority of lawmakers will oppose any resolution that would authorize military strikes in Syria. The majority of the American public is also opposed to military intervention in Syria. President Obama is expected to address the nation on Tuesday to explain why he believes limited strikes in Syria are necessary. We’ll take stock of where the Congress stands on Syria and what the current political debate says about our foreign policy in the Middle East with Michael Brenner, professor emeritus at the University of Pittsburgh and a senior fellow at the Center for Transatlantic Relations at SAIS Johns Hopkins in Washington.
