Earlier this month President Obama laid out his strategy for “defeating” and “destroying” the militant group known as Islamic State. It includes expanded airstrikes in Iraq and Syria and the training and arming of rebels to fight ISIS in Syria. Congress approved the proposal last week. But not everyone believes the President’s strategy will be successful and some critics have come out against any sort of further U.S. intervention in the region. Kevin Martin, executive director of Peace Action and Vincent Emanuele, an activist and veteran of the Iraq War, explain why they believe the U.S. needs to completely re-focus its policies in the Middle East.
