Egyptian army chief calls for new protests

In a speech this week army chief General Abdul-Fattah el-Sisi, called on Egyptians to hold mass demonstrations on Friday to give the military a mandate to confront what he called " violence and terrorism" that has followed the removal of President Mohamed Morsi. Some supporters of former president Morsi have said the general's statements amount to a call for civil war.
