Afghanistan will hold elections on April 5th. This week a suicide bomber killed at least 15 people in Northern Afghanistan, stoking fears that violence would increase in the weeks leading up to April election. All of the candidates have said if elected they would sign a security agreement with the U.S allowing U.S. troops to remain in the country after a formal withdrawal at the end of 2014. Anand Gopal, the Bernard L. Schwartz Fellow at the New America Foundation and author of No Good Men Among the Living: America, the Taliban, and the War through Afghan Eyes, tells us what we can expect from the April elections.
