Bernard Amadei, co-founder of Engineers Without Borders (EWB-USA), said he spent much of his career engineering for the “wealthy top-10 percent”, but an epiphany led him to now use his skills for the “other 90 percent”. EWB-USA is an NGO created to “support community-driven development programs worldwide…that design and implement sustainable engineering projects, while creating transformative experiences that enrich global perspectives and create responsible leaders.” It has recruited 15,000 members in 365 chapters across 39 countries.
