Over the weekend, a bombing in Ankara, Turkey, killed at least 97 people and injured hundreds more. It’s been called the worst terror attack in Turkey’s modern history, and comes on the back of growing political instability and polarization. Turkey is also home to some 2 million Syrian refugees, some of whom, unable to find work and opportunity in Turkey, have decided to return back to Syria. We’ll take a look at what the unrest in Turkey means for the refugee population. We’ll also examine how the rest of the EU continues to grapple with the continuing stream of refugees, with Demetrios G. Papademetriou, a distinguished senior fellow and president emeritus of the Migration Policy Institute (MPI), a Washington-based think tank dedicated exclusively to the study of international migration.
