A new exhibit in Chicago aims to give people an understanding of the difficulties facing millions of refugees around the world who are forced from their homes. Presented by Doctors Without Borders (MSF), the exhibit includes experiences from Afghanistan, Burundi, Honduras, South Sudan and Syria. We’ll discuss the Forced From Home exhibit with Mark Leirer, a nurse who has completed four assignments with MSF since 2014. Most recently, Leirer worked on-board a search and rescue vessel as medical team leader, and provided medical care to people attempting to cross the Mediterranean in search of safety and refuge. He also coordinated shelter, food and psychosocial first aid for his patients.
