Expert Argues For Democratizing Artificial Intelligence

Developments in artificial intelligence are reshaping the way that Internet users worldwide access and consume information. But the means to research and develop advanced algorithms is concentrated in the hands of academic and research institutions and a few large tech companies, such as Apple, Facebook and Google. Facebook’s news feed algorithm, for example, governs how the site displays a continually updated stream of news content to an estimated 2.38 billion monthly users worldwide. Data scientist and artificial intelligence ethicist JT Kostman joins the show to talk about how artificial intelligence could be democratized.
