Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín has garnered lots of Oscar buzz for his two latest films, Jackie and Neruda.

Jackie, starring Natalie Portman, dramatizes the immediate aftermath of the JFK assassination from the point-of-view of First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.

Neruda, Chile’s Oscar submission for best foreign language film, is a biopic on Chilean poet Pablo Neruda.

WBEZ Film Contributor, Milos Stehlik of Facets Multimedia, spoke with Larraín about what drew him to these projects. Jackie opened Friday in theaters while Neruda opens in January 2017.
