According to an MSNBC estimate in November, there have been 775 detainees in the prison camp at Guantanamo Bay. Approximately 340 have been released.

That leaves 435 detainees. Of those 435, 110 have been labeled as ready for release. Of the remaining 325, the pentagon says only “more than 70” will face trial.  That leaves about 250 who may be held indefinitely.

George Brent Mickum is a senior partner in the Washington-based law firm Spriggs and Hollingsworth. He has been the pro-bono attorney for several Guantanamo prisoners. One has been released, and his two other clients are British residents.
