Four volume work looks at the "Social History of Iranian Cinema”

Hamid Naficy, a professor of radio, television and film at Northwestern University, has completed a four volume work on Iranian film , A Social History of Iranian Cinema. The series covers “social history, film history, film theory, and film criticism” in Iran from the late 19th century to the present. WBEZ film contributor, Milos Stehlik and Narimon Safavi, one of the founders of PASFARDA Arts & Cultural Exchange, join Naficy to detail the accomplishments of Iranian film artists and to discuss how Iranian film has reflected and defined its society for well over a century. The Siskel Film Center is running its '24th Annual Festival of Films from Iran', February 7th-28th, 2014. (Photo: Flickr/camshots)
