“Global Activism” favorite Wendy Sternberg is helping Worldview celebrate 25 years on the air! We’ll join her on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 at Chicago’s DuSable Museum of African American History for the Saffron Caravan Universal Love Tour. The world music gala is an ongoing collaboration from Sternberg’s NGO, Genesis at the Crossroads (GATC), a group focused on “global peacebuilding at the nexus of the arts, education, human rights, and social justice.” Saffron Caravan “unites … musicians from Iran, Afghanistan, Brazil, Cuba, Morocco, Israel, India and the United States to create new art [to] demonstrate that the arts can be used to build sustainable bridges between cultures, made stronger through educational initiatives.” For this week’s “Global Activism” segment, Sternberg is joined by Illinois Congresswoman Robin Kelly, honorary chairperson for this year’s Saffron Caravan celebration, and Perri Irmer, president and CEO of the DuSable Museum. They discuss their shared mission to unite Chicagoans across race and class for the betterment of our young people.
