Last year, for our Global Activism segment, we spoke with Leia Johnson of Somebody’s Mama. The initiative, formed by Johnson and her friend, Erika Wright, is a network of mothers dedicated to relieving the suffering of mothers and their children around the globe.
Somebody’s Mama tackles issues such as trafficking, maternal healthcare and girls’ education. We catch up with Johnson to get an update on her group’s recent climb up Mount Kilimanjaro for their “Million Thumbprints” campaign - to raise awareness and funds for women who’ve experienced gender-based violence in war zones.
