Winnetka, Illinois teen, Sonia Shah, started the Kulsoom Foundation for Girls to build a school for girls in Pakistan. Sonia wanted girls to have a future like her mother, Iram and grandmother provided for her. But at age 18, she tragically died in a 2012 auto accident. Iram carries on her daughter’s legacy through the Sonia Shah Organization. For our Global Activism segment, Iram will update us on the school and tell us how the recent events in Charlottesville, Virginia connect to her work in Pakistan. She’ll also share her new mission to help underprivileged girls in Chicago afford an education and her professional goal to encourage corporate social good.
