During a crisis of conscience, Chicago area engineer Soma Roy decided she wanted to live “a purpose-led life”. She then left her successful career to start globally-minded, local peacebuilding initiatives through nutrition and food diplomacy. Roy wanted to inspire young people to break through boundaries and overcome obstacles. Roy’s efforts culminated in her latest effort, The Nourishment Projects, “an interdisciplinary, intergenerational, global, heuristic learning platform.” Through Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics (STREAM), The Nourishment Projects combines science and philosophy into a “fun, creative and disciplined approach to realizing solutions for our global complex problems” like failing biodiversity, income inequality, artificial intelligence displacement, and mass migration. She joins the show for today’s installment of our Global Activism series to tell us more.
