To celebrate our twenty-fifth anniversary, the Worldview team will be hitting the road from July 6-12, bringing you stories from Michigan and southern Ontario. Our first stop is Sunfest, the largest global music festival in Canada, held in London, Ontario. For this edition of “Global Notes,” we bring you a preview of what’s to come at Sunfest. Palestinian band 47Soul is among the acts performing, bringing its electric Arabic Dabke sound to Canada. 47Soul’s members are part of the Palestinian Diaspora, and their music features analog synthesizers, hypnotic guitar lines and four vocalists. 47Soul member Tareq Abu Kwaik, also known by his stage name El Far3i, joins the show to share stories and songs from the group’s debut album “Balfron Promise.” In conversation with him is Catalina Maria Johnson, host and producer of Beat Latino on Vocalo.

47Soul will perform in Chicago on Jul 12 during Square Roots Night at the Old Town School of Folk Music, 4544 N. Lincoln Ave.
