Musical artists from across the globe came together for the 2019 Folk Alliance International Conference in Montreal last month. Many of them stayed at Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth hotel, which recently celebrated the fiftieth anniversary of John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s week-long Bed-In for Peace there, during which the couple recorded “Give Peace a Chance.” With a theme of “The Spirit of Creativity,” the conference focused on the artistic process and featured folk artists in genres ranging from bluegrass to celtic. Joining us to share some of the music she heard in Montreal is Catalina Maria Johnson, host and producer of Beat Latino on Vocalo.
