Global Notes: New Orleans Jazz Fest

Musicians, chefs and craftspeople come together every year for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. This uniquely New Orleans 10-day event features Cajun and Creole cuisine, rural craft traditions and seemingly endless jazz music. And crowds respond, coming from across the country to celebrate the sounds and culture of Louisiana. Even after headliners Fleetwood Max and the Rolling Stones dropped out of this year’s lineup, the show went on, and Catalina Maria Johnson, the host/producer of Vocalo’s Beat Latino, was there to see it. On this edition of Global Notes, Catalina shares some of her favorite music from last week’s New Orleans Jazz Fest. From Samantha Fish’s sultry blues to The War and Treaty’s rock- and soul-infused sounds, Catalina’s picks will leave you feeling like you’ve spent a day in the Big Easy, no matter where you’re listening.
