Global Notes: Russia contemplates limiting music (again)
Legislators in Russia are considering music quotas for Russian FM stations. The quotas would require that only 25 percent of all music played on the stations could contain non-Russian lyrics. It’s not the first time Russia’s considered limitations on Western music. And Russia is not the only country to contemplate protections for its culture. Radio M and Morning Shift host Tony Sarabia joins us to talk about music quotas in Russia and beyond.
