Global Notes: Womex 2017

The host of Vocalo’s Beat Latino, Catalina Maria Johnson, just returned from world music expo Womex 2017 in Katowice, Poland. The massive festival, which took place in the region of Silesia, celebrated the unique cultural heritage of central Europe. Katowice is unique in that it’s the only Central European with the title of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) City of Music.

On today’s Global Notes, Johnson features music from Syria, Colombia, Tunisia, France, Mozambique, Ghana, Senegal, Germany, Kenya, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
