Global Peace Index reveals economic impact of violence

An annual report on the state of world peace, the Global Peace Index, published by the Australia-based Institute for Economics and Peace, states that violence has cost the global economy over 14 trillion dollars or over 13 percent of global GDP. Iceland scores as the most peaceful country on Earth, while Syria bottoms out the list. Aubrey Fox, executive director for the U.S. Office of the Institute for Economics and Peace, talks about this year’s report and how factors like economics, war and social unrest affect the current state of peace in our world.
