Greece debt deal, violent attacks on schools and pretrial detentions crisis

Talks between the Greek government and the EU have collapsed. The Greek government says it won't agree to harsh austerity. Endy Zemenides of the Hellenic American Leadership Council, is lobbying the Obama administration to push the EU to adjust the terms of the deal. He’ll discuss the Greek debt crisis. Millions of people around the world, including in Western Europe, the U.S. and Canada are detained before trial for indefinite periods of months, sometimes years. Martin Schönteich with the Open Society's Justice Initiative will share findings from their report, ‘Presumption of Guilt: The Global Overuse of Pretrial Detention.’ A UN human rights report found that schools in at least 70 countries were attacked in the past five years. Many of those attacks targeted school girls, as well as their parents and teachers. Diya Nijhowne of the Global Coalition to Protect Education from Attack, will talk about these attacks.
