Last Thursday, Greek prime minister Antonis Samaras met with President Obama, Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew and National Security Advisor Susan Rice, to discuss economic growth in Greece. “If Greece succeeds—and it will succeed—our success story is going also to be a European success story…On the other hand, we are trying to do as much as we can to stabilize a very destabilized environment where we live,” Samaras said in a meeting. Samaras’ visit came amid debates within the International Monetary Fund and the European Union on the effectiveness of austerity.
