Libyan-American hip-hop artist Kayem (formerly known as Khaled M) performs and talks about his history of being detained at U.S. airports and interview requests from the FBI.

After a three-year hiatus, due to what he calls “intense government restrictions,” Kayem is performing again. The “Amplify Peace: Saving Syrian Lives” tour features Kayem and Arab-American artists Omar Offendum, Bassel & The Supernaturals, and Ronnie Malley & Turath Ensemble. Sponsored by the Syrian American Medical Society, the tour hopes to increase awareness of the Syrian humanitarian crisis and help provide aid, support, and comfort to Syrians affected by war.

Kayem has long been working to help revitalize Libya and its institutions. He’ll also talk about what’s been happening in Libya since the fall of its former dictator, Muammar Gaddafi.
