Honduras’ Election Commission declared incumbent Juan Orlando Hernandez the winner of last month’s presidential election.

The opposition candidate, Salvador Nasralla, was en route to Washington to meet with government officials to help counter the country’s corrupt election practices. Nasralla has since called for more protests and the Organization of American States recommended the election be staged all over again. Hernandez was said to have won by a slim margin, and many have criticized his presidential rule as authoritarian.

To discuss the election in Honduras and the prospect of a re-vote, we’re joined by Adriana Beltrán, senior associate for Citizen Security at the Washington Office on Latin America.
