Just nominated by the Golden Globes for Best Foreign-Language Picture, Lebanese filmmaker Nadine Labaki’s latest movie, “Capernaum (Capharnaüm)”, takes a unique angle on human rights abuses against children. The fictional drama follows a 12-year-old Lebanese boy who decides to sue his parents in court for giving birth to him. Labaki used non-actors in the film. This week, he speaks with Labaki about her film, and the plight of children around the world. She believes using non-actors will help shake us out of our widespread indifference to children’s suffering.
