Indigenous filmmaker explores issues of Brazil's indigenous community in new documentary

Facets Multimedia’s “Indigenous Film Festival: Brazil” runs this weekend in Chicago. The festival will feature films and panel discussions “that depict the struggles of indigenous Brazilians in contemporary society.” WBEZ film contributor and director of Facets, Milos Stehlik, is joined by Brazilian indigenous filmmaker, Nilson Tuwe Huni Kuin, whose film “Us and Them” (Nós e Eles), will help kick-off the festivities. His film aims to raise “awareness about the delicate balance among government policy, cultural heritage, and environmental rights” regarding Brazil’s indigenous population. (photo: original)
