In 2014, the United Nations’ General Assembly adopted June 13 as International Albinism Awareness Day.
People suffering from Albinism have been marginalized worldwide. The medical condition is known for its lack of skin pigmentation, white hair, and poor eyesight. One of the people who helped make International Albinism Awareness Day happen is Peter Ash, the founder and CEO of Under the Same Sun, an organization fighting against the stigmatization of people living with Albinism everywhere, from negative depictions in movies, to the fashion industry, even superstition and violence in southeast Africa.
In honor of International Albinism Awareness day Tuesday, we are replaying our interview with Peter Ash from April 26, 2017.
