Iranian Elections, The Middle East Music Ensemble, and HIV in India
Iranians will go to the polls on Friday to vote for representatives in the country’s parliament and the cleric-controlled “Assembly of Experts.” Many international observers are skeptical the elections will be free and fair. We take a look at the candidates and the issues with Ahmad Sadri, professor of Islamic World Studies and Professor of Sociology at Lake Forest College. For Global Notes, we get a preview of The University of Chicago Middle East Music Ensemble’s performance of Persian music. Plus, Savita Duomai, a physician at Shalom Delhi hospital, joins us to talk about the holistic fight against HIV in India.
