Iranian’s Parliamentary Elections
Iranians will go to the polls on Friday to vote in national elections. They’ll cast ballots to elect representatives in the country’s parliament and the cleric-controlled “Assembly of Experts.” Many international observers are skeptical the elections will be free and fair. Regardless of outcome, some experts believe the results will signify a great deal about the direction of the country. We take a look at the candidates and the issues with Ahmad Sadri, professor of Islamic World Studies and Professor of Sociology at Lake Forest College. His most recent book is 'Apocalypse Tomorrow and other Essays: Investigations in Sociologies of Religion and Politics' and Mateo Farzaneh, assistant professor of History of the Islamic World and Modern Middle East at Northeastern Illinois University-Chicago. He’s author of the book, 'The Iranian Constitutional Revolution and the Clerical Leadership of Khurasani'.
