Iraq, Afghanistan and Immigration Policy Heat Up in Democratic Presidential Debate
Top Democratic presidential candidates defended their positions on foreign policy and immigration at last night's debate. Joe Biden, the current frontrunner, faced questions and even heckling from protesters on his support for the Iraq War and for the increase in undocumented immigrant deportations he presided over under the Obama administration. The conversation also turned to resolving the ongoing trade war with China and withdrawing troops from Afghanistan, where the U.S. has been at war for 18 years. We recap the big night with Steve Clemons, editor-at-large for The Hill. He also authors the blog Washington Note and is an MSNBC national security contributor.
