Is Prime Minister Narendra Modi India’s Trump? - Anti-Corruption Crusader Prashant Bhushan Compares

Previous Next

Years before this recent, global wave of political nationalism and populism, leaders like India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, rose to power on a nationalist message. Modi, and his Hindu nationalist BJP party, uses language, and advocates policies, eerily similar to President Donald Trump’s. Human and civil rights advocates in India have accused Modi of fomenting intolerance and violence against the country’s non-Hindu populations. We’ll compare Modi and Trump, and get an anti-corruption update from Prashant Bhushan, a public interest lawyer and anti-corruption crusader in India. Bhushan, a member of Sambhaavnaa, an Institute of Public Policy and Politics, has spent well over 25 years fighting corrupt politicians and companies in his country. He’s led massive protests demanding anti-corruption legislation, and also protects anti-corruption whistleblowers, thousands of whom face assassination, attacks and kidnappings.
