Urbanist, Jaime Lerner, is a living legend in the fields of architecture, urban planning and sustainability. As former mayor of Curitiba, Brazil, his city recycled the largest percentage of its waste than any municipality in the world. Lerner’s revolutionary career, along with that of his colleague, the late Jorge Wilheim, revolutionized the way we think about the function and purpose of cities and city life. Lerner’s vision has, for decades, inspired cities, architects, planners and policy around the globe. We revisit our 2014 interview with Mr. Lerner, in which he talks about his hopes for urban planning, and his book ‘Urban Acupuncture’. (Photo: Flickr/Better Transport, Better Communities: Welcome)
