Japanese avant-garde vocalist Koichi Makigami and his group Hikashu have been part of Japan’s new wave scene since the 1970’s. Their work combines improv, techno pop, Tuvan throat singing and even something known as jaw harp solos. They’ve put out 15 albums and are about to release another. Radio M and Morning Shift host Tony Sarabia tells us more about their sound.
