In September 2016, Congress voted to allow Americans the right to sue Saudi Arabia over the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Human rights activist Medea Benjamin said of  the vote, “Finally, we have an example of the U.S. Congress putting U.S. citizens above the relationship with the Saudi government.”

Benjamin is the co-founder of the women-led peace group CodePINK and co-founder of the human rights group Global Exchange. CodePINK protesters receive attention for showing up to televised political gatherings — like Congressional hearings — dressed in pink, holding up signs.

Benjamin’s latest cause is critiquing the U.S.-Saudi Arabia relationship.  Her book is Kingdom of The Unjust: Behind The U.S.–Saudi Connection. We speak with her about U.S. Middle East Policy.
