Members of Israeli spy organization protest political surveillance of Palestinians

Last week, members of Israel's covert spy organization, Unit 8200, claimed the Israeli government, as part of coercion tactics, ordered them to spy on innocent Palestinians. Part of the alleged methods of Unit 8200, they say, was to blackmail closeted gay Palestinians into being informants. We’ll talk about the espionage controversy with journalist Richard Silverstein. He publishes the blog, Tikun Olam, which is dedicated to “exposing the excesses of the Israeli national security state.” (photo: This image made from video shot through a night vision scope released by the Israeli military on Friday, July 18, 2014 shows troops moving a wall during the early hours of a ground offensive in the Gaza Strip.
