WBEZ film contributor Milos Stehlik, director at Facets Chicago, interviews the world’s great filmmakers and film artists on Worldview. Today’s master class is with famed cinematographer and director Sally Potter. Her latest project is The Party, a star-studded British black comedy.

Janet, a politician in the UK Parliament’s opposition party, has just been nominated to a high-ranking position. She invites a small group of friends and colleagues to a house party. When guns, infidelity, and terminal illness are introduced into the formula, the party goes off the rails.

Sally and Milos talk about the writing process for The Party, how to cast actors for the right voice, and the pluses and minuses of having no formal film education. The Party is now in theaters.
