WBEZs film contributor Milos Stehlik of Facets Chicago, considers Foxtrot one of 2017’s best films. Directed by Israeli filmmaker, Samuel Maoz, the movie follows a Tel Aviv couple after learning their son, a soldier, was killed in the line of duty. Foxtrot also backtracks to the son’s experiences manning a checkpoint. The film has faced boycotts and has come under attack in Israel.
“The film builds to a powerful climax critical not, I think, of Israel, but of the insanity and moral corruption of military institutions everywhere,” said Stehlik. Foxtrot opens on March 23 in Chicago-area theaters.
