Wonderstruck, a new film by director Todd Haynes, is based on Brian Selznick’s popular and critically acclaimed book. Main characters, Rose and Ben, are children from two different eras. Rose longs to find her movie-actress mother (Julianne Moore) in 1927. After getting struck by lightning in 1977, Ben pursues his long-held wish to find his father. Both wish their lives were different, yet their plights unfold, symmetrically, in black and white, and color. Critics laud the film for its visual approach.
