Within the past month, anti-gay violence in Cameroon has escalated. Offices of gay rights attorneys have been burglarized, and members of the LGBT community have been attacked. Just two weeks ago, Cameroon’s leading gay rights activist Eric Lemembe was found tortured and murdered in his home. Lemembe’s attorney has accused the Cameroonian police of dragging their feet in launching an investigation on Lemembe’s murder. Neela Ghoshal, a Kenya-based LGBT researcher for Human Rights Watch puts Lemembe’s murder into context. (Photo: AP Images).
