A new study “Anti-Americanism or Anti-Interventionism? Evidence from the Arabic Twitter Universe” takes a look at anti-american attitudes among Arabic twitter users. Researchers studied reactions to specific events in the Middle East, such as the removal of Mohammed Morsi from power in Egypt. The researchers found that anti-American attitudes are prevalent on Arabic twitter but usually focused less on American society and more on U.S. policies. We’ll discuss some of the findings with two of the authors of the study, Robert Keohane, professor of international affairs at Princeton University and Dustin Tingley, a professor of political economy at Harvard University.
