North Koreans marked the second anniversary of the death of Kim Jong II with a series of ceremonies. At the memorial, political and military leaders pledged their loyalty to the country’s current leader, Kim Jong Un. The loyalty pledges came less than a week after Kim Jong Un had ordered the execution of his uncle, Jang Song Thaek. According to news reports, Jang Song Thaek had been plotting to take over power.
