President Obama is traveling to Africa this week-his trip will include stops in Ethiopia and Kenya. In Ethiopia, the president is expected to discuss trade and security. The Ethiopia visit has come under scrutiny by some human rights advocates. They say the decision to go to Ethiopia undermines the Obama administration’s claims that it seeks to support human rights and good governance. Ethiopia held elections in May and the ruling party there was criticized for its oppression of opposition leaders, bloggers and journalists. Most critics do not believe the elections were free and fair. Charles Schaefer, a professor of history at Valparaiso University who focuses on Ethiopia, joins us to discuss the trip.
