Seventh-day Adventist Pastor Antonio Monteiro has been jailed by the government of Togo since March, 2012. Thus far, no evidence has been brought against him, bail requests have been denied and he has not had a trial. He’s accused of murder and conspiracy in operating a blood trafficking network. The witness in the case had confessed to the murder of some 20 young girls, claiming he was only carrying out Monteiro’s orders. However, the witness has a documented history of mental instability and his statement is widely considered unreliable, according to the National Commission of Human Rights in Togo. We’ll hear more about Mr. Monteiro’s plight from Ansel Oliver, spokesman for the Seventh-day Adventist Church. (Photo: Adventist News Network).
