Around 263 million of the world’s children and youth don’t attend school, according to UNESCO, and poverty and conflict are major contributors that block access to education.

The Global Partnership for Education bills itself as “the only global fund solely dedicated to education in developing countries.” In the last decade, GPE has invested more than $4 billion toward education in developing countries.

We speak with Alice Albright, the CEO of GPE, about the world’s hotspots in desperate need of education aid. She shares why she left a successful and lucrative banking career to help provide education and hope to the world’s children living in extreme poverty.
