Puerto Ricanstruction: Storytelling and Hurricane Maria

October 13th marked Chicago’s 1st annual Puerto Rican Film Festival. All proceeds raised have gone to rebuilding efforts on the island. For this week’s installment of Worldview’s“Puerto Ricanstruction”, we feature one of the films from the fest. We’ll speak with the director of the documentary Jurakán: Nación en Resistencia (Hurricane: Nation in Resistance), Gonzalo Mazzini, and the film’s producer, Rosa Mazzini. Jurakán focuses on the historical struggle of Puerto Rico. Also joining the conversation is Carlos Jimenez Flores, a filmmaker and organizer of the Puerto Rican Film Festival of Chicago.
